Never knew a gaggle was the correct collective noun for flightless winos - terrific piece as always team. Sadly we only spent a day on Waiheke (and most of that was in the sea!) but the wines coming out of there are superb!
Thanks Nathaniel! I think "researchers" are still working on the name for the flying variety. Definitely worth staying at least a night or two, may need to amend the post to include the part where the entire island likes to go to sleep by like 6PM 😂 every time I've visited it always seems like the bus system and all of the wineries are closed or closing by sundown. It would be amazing if there were more exports, unfortunately I think production volume is pretty low for most of them. Makes it a great destination though!
The early to bed phenomenon seemed to be fairly common throughout our NZ trip. Craft beer pub closing at 5:30 in Christchurch… does indeed make it a great destination!
